Fernola Strode Obituary
Cantrall, IL—Fernola "Nodie" Strode, age 79, of Cantrall, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018.
Nodie is survived by a son, Lee Strode (significant other, Terri Brake); a daughter, Nancy Jo (Bob) Johnson; granddaughter, Cassy Strode; great grandson, Ike Johnson; one brother, John Yates of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation for Nodie will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the funeral home at 10:00 AM.
Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the family.

The passing of my grade school friend, Fernola, brought tears to my eyes. She was such a warm, kind and supportive friend. I wish there were more people like her in this world. I missed the opportunity to see and talk with her at the high school reunions. We could have shared some wonderful memories of Douglas School. Bless you, Fernola, for your wonderful,kind and strong spirit in my life.

So very sorry to see Fernola's obit in the paper. She was a classmate of the Class of '57 at Springfield High School and we just saw her at our class reunion last fall.

I didn't know Nodie well, but whenever we saw one another in the halls of SHS, she was always very pleasant to talk to. I am sure she will be sorely missed by her family and friends. RIP Nodie.

Fernola was one of my very most treasured patients. I was blessed to offer her care while I practiced in Springfield and she was loved by all in our office. When I married on leap year day Fernola gave me a beautiful relish tray which I use every time we entertain. I remember her each time I see it.

I am so sorry to hear of Fernola death, Just last week I heard she was in the hopsital. Will miss not having her at our yearly cousin when dinner I come back home. She was such a lovely person and always good to my mother, (Aunt Dorothy). My prayers are with you at this time, and now she is with her beloved husband Harry Edward, May they both rest in peace.

Nodie was my Mom's caregiver for years. What an awesome lady! Always a kind word and amazing smile for everyone. She truly lit up a room! God Bless your family!

Fernola and I worked together at the Sears on 2nd St, before it became a state office building. We worked side by side in the catalogue department. Love her, her smile and she always helped everyone with our jobs. She got me hooked on caramel covered marshmallows! Then, came across her at Memorial, we hit it right off!
