Gary D. Tanner
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Gary D. Tanner, 71, of Cape Girardeau, MO, formerly of Springfield, IL, died Tuesday, May 01, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
He was born September 26, 1940 in Williamson County, IL to Willie and Rosie Hill Tanner. He and Charlotte O'Keefe were married January 2, 1960.
Gary took early retirement due to a medical condition in 1990 from ABF Trucking Company. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #3775 in Cape and Teamsters Local 916. Gary was a loving father that enjoyed life and his family.
Survivors include: Wife, Charlotte Tanner, Cape Girardeau, MO; 2 Daughters, Melody Jones (David), Gulf Port, MS, and Garia Hiett (Randy), Cape Girardeau, MO; 2 Grandchildren, Emily Hiett, Saint Louis, MO and Tanner Hiett, Cape Girardeau, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, May 04, 2012 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A graveside service for family and friends will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 05, 2012 at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery in Dykersburg, IL.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.

My dear Charlotte, I am so so sorry to hear about your loss of Gary. He was a great guy and even thou we had not known him long we enjoyed the times we were together. I know you have many happy memories and they will sustain you. I will keep you and the girls in my prayers.

I am so shocked to be seeing the passing of Gary! I haven`t seen him for several years now. I knew him from the Sandbar Tavern, when I lived out that way. I am so sorry to hear he is gone. God Bless you all at this sad time!
