Gerry and I worked together in San Diego with the IEASDC (Industrial Environmental Association of San Diego County) and we became good friends. He was my recommended replacement as the Manager of Environmental Engineering at Solar Turbines Incorporated at their Harbor Drive plant. His technical expertise and wonderful sense of humor made us all proud to know him. Our IEA group lifted a glass in his memory when we learned Of his being killed on9-11-01. Rest in peace good friend!

Dearest Judy, our entire family wants you to know that we are thinking of you so much today, as always on this day, but particularly on this 10th year. It is so difficult to believe that these years have passed to reach this point however, we realize that for you, it probably feels like yesterday. Gerry's legacy still and will always live on in hearts and lives. Our thoughts, prayers, hugs, and kisses go out to you. We will always remember. May God give you peace and loving memories to fill your lifetime.

My name is Mary. Gerry and Larry came into my boatdealership a few weeks before 09-11-2001. I remember how excited they were to get their boat and get to fishing. I think of him every year and through out the year. I remember Gerry and Larry fondly and how close they were. Both vets and both heros.

Gerry, on this, the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the day you left us forever, through no choice of your own, I want you and your family to know that you have never been forgotten and never will be. Every anniversary, in your honor, I light a candle in remembrance. I have chosen not to remember the horror of the day but the gift of friendship that you gave me. You will always be missed and never forgotten. May your family and friends find peace and joy in the memories of your life and the knowledge of the contributions you made that enriched the lives of others.

I worked with Gerry at General Dynamics, Convair but really got to know him after the shut down through Joy Stockton-Hagin and the "ex-Cons" engineering group. He was very caring and funny, and accepted me into the group as a long lost friend. I think of him often and I know he is greatly missed by all. My thoughts are with his family, I pray for peace for them.

Dear Judy and Kristen,

As I place American Flags on my lawn today, remembering those that lost their lives on 9/11, I especially think of Gerry. My husband, Dave Rudderow, was a friend of Gerry's. They were "Poker buddies" for many years, along with Chuck Ollinger and Joe Corso. I lost Dave to cancer 3 years ago. He and I made it our priority every anniversary to light a candle for Gerry. Now I will continue that tradition.

God bless you and your family.

Kristen:

It's been quite some time since Burnham. I'm not sure that you remember me (you and your mom lived just down the street). I came across the article about your father and wanted to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family. If you ever have the time I'd love to hear from you. Take care.

I knew Gerald when he was at General Dynamics. I was the Ops Manager at a small start-up, San Diego Environmental Services in the late 1980's and Gerald was my point of contact when we would bid on various hazardous waste removal projects at GD. (By coincidence, my wife, Jane Tierney, an engineer at GD knew him as well.) We were not friends, but I definitely considered him a professional acquaintance. After my company went out of business, I would occasionally run into him at various environmental meetings and conferences, while I was doing environmental work for the Navy Public Works. I was watching the MSNBC Special tonight and thought about Gerald. My thoughts go out to the family on this anniversary, I hope you are all doing well.

On this 6th anniversary we do our best to remember the good times. Thinking of the day we went to the San Diego Zoo while Kristen had to go to school and Judy to work - what a blast - I still remember Kristen's expression when we she left for school. My favorite memory was at our wedding and Uncle Gerry had the pre-wedding dinner party at his room. When we walked in he had the blender going and he was pouring margaritas. Judy, Kristen, Colleen and Larry you are in our prayers and we share in your grief. We love you and you are not alone.

As I approach the second year, I worked for Gerry Hardacre at General Dynamics in San Diego. Gerry was a great boss and even a better man. I am grateful for the 5 years I worked for Gerry, he was a very funny man, dedicated, and cared for his employee’s who worked for him. I was heart broken when I heard he was on Flight #175. I will always remember what a fine American Gerry was, and for all those on September 11, 2001. May god bless Gerry's family and my GOD bless the USA.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I am an environmental professional and worked with Gerry in San Diego during the early to mid 1980's while employed at SDG&E. I am shocked to read in the SDSU Alumni magazine about his passing on 9/11/01 on flight 175. Gerry was a very fine person, easy to talk to, very knowledable about the environmental field and did an excellent job for his Company, General Dynamics. I will remember Gerry for his warm personality and his dedication to his profession. Gerry's brother, Larry, is right when he said Gerry would do anything to help others.

Dear Sir,
I know your daughter, she is a wonderful woman and it seems to me that you and your wife did a good job raising her. I may not have known you personally, but just knowing that a dear friend of mine lost you has struck so close to my heart. I hope that you are happy wherever you are now. This is my way of paying tribute to you and to all those who were taken way too soon and never had a chance to say good bye. My love is with you and all that are now with you.
