James Robert Allison 1974 - 2017
Springfield, IL—James Robert Allison, 42, of Springfield, died Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Springfield. He was born September 28, 1974 in Springfield to Robert and Tina (Elder) Allison.
Surviving are his mother, Tina Allison of Springfield; father and step mother, Robert (Lisa) Allison of Springfield; one sister, Amy Allison, of Springfield; three brothers, Jefferey (Dee) Allison of St. Louis, Robert and Andrew Allison, both of Springfield; one nephew, Jefferson and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Ruth Allison and Esther Elder.
James was a United States Army veteran. He served three time in the Iraq War as 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard from 1992-2008. James graduated from the University of Illinois in 1998 and also graduated from SIU Carbondale as a Civil Engineer. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 13. James worked for the Illinois EPA as an Engineer.
Memorial Gathering: 2 – 5 pm, Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Memorial Service: 11:30 am, Monday, July 10, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

I am so sorry for your loss. We served together in Iraq 2003-2004. He bunked right next to me for 12 months. He was a great soldier and man!

I first met James at U of Illinois in the fall 1993. We became good friends through out the years and I will forever be grateful for his friendship. May you rest in peace. Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for being my friend.
