John Hanlon Jr. 1927 - 2021
Pawnee, IL—John Hanlon Jr., 94, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield. John was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Springfield, the son of John and Margaret Nagra Hanlon. He married JoAnn Barnwell Nov. 27, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Divernon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, JoAnn, in 2014.
John was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pawnee. He graduated from Pawnee High School. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Fiat-Allis Manufacturing Co. in Springfield in 1989 after 43 years of service.
He is survived by one son, John W. (wife, Sara) Hanlon of Springfield; one daughter, Jayne (husband, Bart) Wilson of Pawnee; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Hanlon and Lexia Wilson.
Private family services will be held with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee at a later date.
