Not sure what to say?

September 25, 2007

When my sister passed away, a dear friend gave me a copy of a poem that brought me great comfort. I hope it will do the same for you.

To Those I Love:
If I should ever leave you whom I love...to go along the silent way, grieve not, or speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.

(I'd come...I'd come could I but find a way! But would not tears and grief be barriers?)

And when you hear a song or see a bird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad, for I am loving you just as I always have...you were so good to me!

There are so many things I wanted still to do - so many things to say to you...

Remember that I did not fear...it was just leaving you that was so hard to face.

We cannot see Beyond, but this I know: I loved you so - 'twas Heaven here with you!

To Josh's Parents:
I was a Boy Scout when Josh was just a Cub Scout, so I didn't get to talk to him or be around him all that much. But, even when he was that young, I had heard about how admirable and good his work was. I was a senior at A.H.S. when he was a freshman and I can honestly say that, out of his whole class, Josh seemed to be the most well-liked and polite, charming guy. My sister, Madeline, is a classmate of Riley's and all she can say is that he has been fearless and strong-willed. I know you must both be so proud of the two wonderful, brave men you have raised. You will continue to be in the thoughts, hearts, and prayers of so many.

To the Hoffman's, May God comfort you throught this terrible tragedy, we that are left here are saddened. We don't understand why things like this happen, but we can lean on Jesus and he will take us through it. Without Jesus in our lives it would be pointless to live. I hope and pray that we all learn from these two deaths and know that life is only ours for a short period and we should always be ready to go home to meet our maker and to be worthy to stand in His presence. A saddened mother and wife.

Tressa, Jeff and Riley,

I am so sorry for your loss. You should be very proud of the young man he had become. Everywhere I go I hear people telling stories about the caring, happy guy he was. Please know that the community is here for you and let me know if there is anything I can do to help you through this terrible time.

It is impossible to understand why something like this has to happen. We can just have hope that the pain will diminish over time while the memories remain.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
