Kenneth Watson Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Watson, Sr. 1954 - 2018
Divernon, IL—Kenneth Wayne Watson, Sr., 63 of Divernon, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 23, 1954 in Chicago to William Tom and Mary Lee Lovingood Watson. He married Karen Joyce Vaught on September 13, 1980. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Linda Johnson.
Kenny retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2014, as an equipment manager, after 40 years of service to the industry. Kenny was a very giving man…and would often go above and beyond what was asked of him for family and friends. His passion in life was helping others; he was a very skilled woodworker and cabinet maker.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Karen; son, Kenneth "Wayne" Watson, Jr of Auburn; mother, Mary Lee Watson of Madisonville, TN; brothers, Gary (Jeanette) Watson of Tellico Plains, TN and Dennis (Cathy) Watson of Madisonville, TN; sisters, Judy Atchley and Janet Holcomb both of Madisonville, TN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family will greet friends from 4pm until the time of the Celebration of his life at 7pm, Friday January 26, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. Family and friends will share memories, with Paula Staab Polk as Memorial Celebrant.

Couldn't have been a better way to characterize Kenny. He gave his time, always had time for you. There is no stronger expression of Love then to say, " I will be there for you" and then back up those words by being there. Kenny lived that creed! He is missed and will continue to be, but he left behind countless memories (tangible and intangible) of himself. All of us will have those until we pass.

Karen, I am so sorry for your loss. The good old days of working for Bob Medley on the Nickel Plate were some of the best days of my life. Kenny was bigger than life even in his 20s.

Kenny, there was a reason many thought of him as grandpa cause he was rough around the edges but always meant with love. Everyone that knew him loved that charisma? He will be missed everyday.

A dear and closest friend that will be greatly missed. We shared many great times together over the past 24 Years. Kenny was a very passionate person with a heart of gold who would do anything for you. We enjoyed many adventures together. We remember coming back from Tennessee and going from Dairy Queen to Dairy Queen to find a Cilli Dog for Kenny. He loved Cruises. Really enjoyed Island life. He will be dearly missed. Rest In Peace Kenny.
