SPRINGFIELD, IL – Kevin L. Hardesty, 51, of Springfield, formerly of Riverton, Ill., passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Capitol Care Center in Springfield, Ill.
Kevin was born March 5, 1964, in Bloomington, Ill., a son of Marvin L. and Judith A. (Coffey) Hardesty. He graduated from Normal Community High School in Normal, Ill., and attended Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. He worked as a consultant for Menu Advertising & Design (M.A.D. Menu).
Some of Kevin's favorite hobbies were physical fitness (which he tried to involve everyone in), and shopping and selling anything and everything. He loved a challenge and was always trying new things.
Surviving Kevin are: his mother, Judith A. Kutz of Riverton, Ill.; daughters, Kristine Hardesty of Springfield, Ill., and Jade Hoover of Buffalo, Ill.; sons, Nicolas Hardesty of Riverton, Ill., and Jakob Hardesty of Buffalo, Ill.; half-brothers: Randy Kutz of Riverton, Ill., Chad Hardesty of Normal, Ill., Neal Hardesty of Colfax, Ill., and Craig Hardesty of Bloomington, Ill.; stepmother, Sharon Hardesty of Colfax, Ill.; Tim and Tina Roegge of California, formerly of Riverton, Ill., who were Kevin's closest friends and partners; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves behind many friends whom he had touched and helped over time.
K-Dog's favorite saying was, "Don't poke the bear." He was a gentle giant and will be greatly missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Auburn, Ill.
Graveside burial and balloon release will be at Noon, Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1735 S. Camp Butler Road, Springfield, IL.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service following the burial at Roselawn at the V.F.W. on Stockyard Road in Springfield. Anyone who was a part of Kevin's life is more than welcome to attend either one or both.
