MOUNT STERLING - Laura Karen Norvell, age 65, of Mount Sterling, formerly of Riverton, passed away at 3:34 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at St. John's Hospital.
She was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Quincy, the daughter of Horace and Ellen Cavanaugh Patterson. She married William Norvell on May 1, 1965, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mount Sterling.
Mrs. Norvell was a homemaker. She graduated from Brown County High School and had attended Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Laura was of the Catholic faith.
She always enjoyed traveling, gardening and loved to try new recipes and share them with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, William Norvell, of Mount Sterling; four children, Craig Norvell of Mechanicsburg, Kathy Tega and her husband, Carl, of Springfield, Chris Norvell of Mechanicsburg and Steve Norvell of Buffalo; two brothers, Robert Patterson of Springfield and Dale Patterson of Peoria; five grandchildren, Jake Norvell, Jennifer Tega, Lindsey Norvell, Jeffrey Norvell and Kristen Norvell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kathleen Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mount Sterling with Father Thomas Henseler officiating.
Burial will be in the Mount Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's Breadline.
