SPRINGFIELD, IL - Lydia A. Maddox, 94, of Springfield, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born in Addison, IL, on April 19, 1921, the daughter of Gustav and Anna (Rosenwinkel) Moeller. She married William R. Maddox on Sept. 17, 1966, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Edgar and Wilbur Moeller, and three sisters: Helen Streid, Lorna Streid, and Marian Brendt.
Lydia was a well-known hairdresser and the owner/operator of Lydia's Beauty Cottage in Addison, IL, before retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Professional Hairdressers Association. After retiring she and her husband moved to Cherokee Village, AR, and in 1995 she relocated to Springfield to be near family.
She was a devoted and faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church LCMS in Springfield. She played in the church bell choir, was a member of the Seeker's Bible Class and served as a teacher's aide in the pre-school.
Lydia loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews. They held a very special place in her heart.
Surviving are her sister, Flora Paul of Wood Dale, IL, and 28 nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Service: The family will greet friends at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2645 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield, IL 62704 on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Joshua T. Traxel will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, IL.
Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in her memory to: Our Savior's Lutheran Church Parish Nurse Fund or Our Savior's Lutheran School Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West; 217-544-5424.

It was my honor to be in the mid-week service bell choir with Lydia. Pastor Hoffman gave us the opportunity to be part of the service and we loved it. Lydia was a blessing to all of us.

For the family of Lydia. Accept my condolences for your beloved Lydia. Having the privilege of caring for Lydia while she was a neighbor at Concordia Village Assisted Living. Lydia was a fighterand doer. She will be greatly missed by staff and all of the neighbors at Concordia Village Assisted Living.
