Marc Fuchs Obituary

Marc E. Fuchs 1948 - 2016
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Marc E. Fuchs, 67, of Springfield, Ill., passed away on April 4, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 21, 1948, in Springfield, Ill., to Eldon and Darlene Fuchs. He married his wife, Cori, on Sept. 15, 1973, in Joliet, Ill.
Marc graduated from Girard High School and from the University of Illinois with a BS in Finance in 1970 and a Juris Doctorate in 1973. Marc practiced law in Farmersville, Ill., from 1973 to 1990.
In his second career, he was able to embrace his lifelong passion as a scholar of Abraham Lincoln. He worked and volunteered at the Lincoln Tomb and the Lincoln-Herndon Law Office Historic Sites for nearly 20 years. He was also a board member of the Lincoln Monument Association.
Marc was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Samaritan for St. John's Hospital, and an active member of his parish, Christ the King. Additionally, Marc had previously served on and was president of the Springfield Diocesan Board of Education and also participated in numerous community committees.
Despite suffering a severe stroke at the age of 43, Marc was grateful to live and enjoy life over the next 24 years. He donated his body to science in an effort to contribute to medical advances for the benefit of future generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Marc is survived by his wife, Cori; two daughters, Kim Fuchs (Eric Magee) of Austin, Texas, and Becky (Brad) Foster of Arlington Heights, Ill.; four grandchildren: Abbey and Luke Foster, and Burke and Britt Magee; sister, Beth Cannata of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his family and his many wonderful friends.
MEMORIAL GATHERING: Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL 62704. Memorial Gathering will begin with a prayer service.
MEMORIAL MASS: 10 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Ring, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made in his memory to: Northwestern Memorial Feinberg School of Medicine (for neurological research), 420 E. Superior St., Rubloff 9th Floor, Chicago, IL 60611; Helping Hands, 1023 E. Washington St., Springfield, IL 62703; or the Lincoln Monument Association, 1500 Monument Ave., Springfield, IL 62702.

Mark and I went to grade.school at Saint Isadores.
We crossed paths later on in life.
I never had a doubt that he would be a successful lawyer. Mark was as honest a person as I have ever known. He was just a shining example to look up to.

I met Marc 17 years ago while riding the SMTD buses and kept in touch with him as we both used Access Springfield. He was a true gentleman, and he always had a smile and kind word for me. I looked forward to our chats. He was someone that I truly respected and admired and I am blessed to have known him and grateful for his example of how to live life with positivity and a sense of humor despite whatever challenges life may bring. I will miss him deeply and think of him often.

Cori, Kim, and Becky,
Please accept my sympathy on the loss of Marc. I always enjoyed him during my days at St. Isidore. Other fun memories include running into Marc while he was walking at White Oaks. He was a special guy who was also so caring!

Dear Cori, My heart goes out to you and your family. Strangely, I was staring at the Lincoln Tomb and thinking of Marc's courage (and of his many kindnesses to me and to my mother) at the very time I was called and told of his unexpected death. I strongly felt his presence at the Tomb. I think he is now at home with his beloved Mr Lincoln... My warmest regards to you and to all of his friends who loved Marc...

Is Marc E. Fuchs of kin to David Fuchs who works with Secretary Jesse White?

If so, tell him I am thinking of him.
