Monita "Peggy" Nelle, 102, of Springfield, passed away on January 6, 2017 at Countryside Assisted Living in Huntsville, AR.
Peggy was born on July 8, 1914 in Quincy, the daughter of Hayden and Theresa Arnold O'Neil. She married Richard S. Nelle in 1935; he preceded her in death on December 30, 2000.
Peggy graduated from Macomb High School and attended Western Illinois University. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family, and spending time with her friends in Bridge Club. She loved traveling with her husband, cooking, crocheting, and crewel embroidery.
Peggy was also preceded in death by her parents; and sons, Don and Michael Nelle.
She is survived by her sons, Jan A. (Alice) Nelle of Springfield, Patrick E. (Joyce) Nelle of Huntsville, AR, and Richard D. (Beverly) Nelle of New Berlin; daughters, Kathleen (Warren James) Davis and Marianne (Leo) Lombardi, both of Huntsville, AR; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
