Ray J. Dugger
SPRINGFIELD, IL – Ray J. Dugger, 87, of Springfield, Ill., passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, Ill.
Ray was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Montgomery County, Illinois, the son of Irven R. and Hazel Wilbur Dugger. He married Bernadine Williams in 1985, she preceded him in 1985. He then married Jo Anne Marr on Feb. 14, 1988 in Cedar Hill, Mo. Ray was also preceded in death by three brothers, Darrel, Paul and William Dugger.
Ray was baptized on May 17, 1992. He served proudly in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946, and traveled to Washington, D.C., as a participant of the Honor Flight. He was part of the Greatest Generation. Ray retired from Evans-Mason Masonry Contractors in 1986 and was a member of the Teamsters and the Laborers Locals. He volunteered for many years in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at the Senior Services Center of Central Illinois.
Ray loved to working with his hands and was multi-talented. He was a wonderful provider for his family whom he loved very much.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne, of Springfield; three daughters: Sandra (husband, Paul) Rigsby, of Decatur, Carolyn (husband, Chris) Cardose, of Springfield and Gwen Hall of Indianapolis, Ind.; one step-son, Dencil Marr, Jr., of Rural Soldotna, Alaska; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Baugh of Springfield and Mary Lou Graham of Virden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Koke Mill Christian Church, 475 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711. Pastor Stan Summers will officiate. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions honoring Ray may be made to American Heart Association, 2141 W. White Oaks Dr., Springfield, IL 62704.
Today we come here, not to attend a funeral, but to celebrate a wonderful man's life.

I would like to express my heartfelt wotrds of sympathy to the Dugger family. I too went on the HOnor Flight in March from Springfield. Also, I served during the Korean conflict from 1950-1953.God bless you all.
