Richard Flagg Obituary
SHERMAN, IL – Richard A. Flagg, 84, died on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 3, 1932 in Springfield to Paul and Rachel Carver Flagg, and they preceded him in death. He married Ramona Claypool on August 7, 1955, and she survives.
He is also survived by his two children, Rodney (Rhonda) Flagg of Sherman and Rhonda (Michael) Robinson of Springfield; four granddaughters: Rachelle Flagg (fiancé' Paul Baker) of Sherman, Brea (Travis) Powell of Pleasant Plains, Jennifer (Bill) Huff of Auburn, and Stephanie (Andrew) Ralston of Auburn; twelve great grandchildren, Tyson and Eli Powell, Riley and Braydon Baker, Marissa and Julia Robinson, Connor Ralston, Alex Kelly, Coty and Ciara Taborn, and Evan and Collyn Huff; one sister, Edna Seipel of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a resident of Sherman most of his life. He retired on December 3, 1992 as a Sergeant Major, after serving 35 years in the military, involving active duty and Reserves. He was self-employed and ran his own trucking business. He was a member of the Sherman United Methodist Church, an avid reader and active in the American Truck Historical Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield, with Reverend Craig Sweet officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8517.

Hi Ramona and family
I'm very sorry to learn that Richard has passed. I knew, Ramona,that you and Richard had moved into an assisted living arrangement, mainly due to Dick's declining health- in your last Christmas message. Dick was a very nice man and always was kind to those around him. I was in Kiwanis with him and always enjoyed his company. Thak you for ongoing Christmas cards. With love. Bill Claypool
