Richard "Dick" Lorenzini 1912 - 2018
Springfield, IL—Richard "Dick" Lorenzini, 105, of Springfield, passed away March 6, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 3, 1912 in Staunton, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Erminia (Cauzzi) Lorenzini. He married Dorothy Marie Ehlert in the military chapel at Camp Harahan in New Orleans, LA in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 1989.
Mr. Lorenzini was a graduate of Staunton Community High Class of 1931 and the Illinois Business College of Springfield. He worked for consumer finance companies most of his life and retired from Finance America in 1978.
He was retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel having served four and half years active duty during World War II. He served twenty years in the active reserves and was the Commanding officer of the 900th Transportation Detachment (Intelligence Research) at the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Springfield, IL. He was a member of the American Legion Post 32 and the Military Officers Association of America.
He was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church where he ushered for many years. He served on the Jerome Planning Commission and was an associated retired member of the Sangamo Surf Club.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marion Lorenzini, two brothers, Charles and August Lorenzini.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Lorenzini and Penny Lorenzini, both of Springfield; niece, Marion (Doug) Cordiner of Sacramento, CA and nephew John (Gail) Lorenzini of Springfield, as well as many nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Visitation: 4 - 6 pm, Friday, March 9, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Home Hospice in care of Memorial Medical Center Foundation or to the Animal Protective League of Springfield.

Penny,
I did think your Dad was miraculous and that he would just go on and on forever. What a wonderful and full life he has had. I was sorry to hear of his passing, but you have been so blessed to have had him in your life for so many shared and healthy years. Thinking of you at this time knowing that you will miss him dearly.
