Knoedler
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Robert G. Knoedler, 86, died at 12:50 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Springfield to Joseph and Helen Lex Knoedler. He married Genevieve Dold on Sept. 13, 1952, and she survives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: William, Ernest, Joseph and Monsignor Henry Knoedler; two sisters, Eleanor Ermert and Sister Mary Beata.
Also surviving are four sons: Robert (Tina) Knoedler of Maggie Valley, N.C., John (Theresa) Knoedler of Springfield, Don (Debbie) Knoedler of Mt. Pulaski and James (Karen) Knoedler of Springfield; one sister, Helen Knoedler of Springfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert served as a U.S. Marine, and worked as a postal carrier for the U.S. Post office for 32 years. He supported and was active in the St. Agnes Holy Name Society, was a past member of the Mozart Club and Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Post Office Sunset Club.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at St. Agnes Church with Rev. Robert Jallas officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or St. Agnes Church.
