WAVERLY - Robert L. Perry, 78, of Waverly died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Quincy Veteran's Home.
He was born September 22, 1930, in Sangamon County, the son of William O. and Sarah A. Franklin Perry. He married Eva Miner July 15, 1951, in Waverly; and she survives.
He is also survived by five sons, Steven of Upper Montclair, N.J., Richard Keith of Waverly, Dave of Springfield, Jim of Chicago and Charles of Waverly; a daughter, Joan Wilson of Springfield; five grandchildren, Deborah and Rebecca Westfall, John, Michella and Olivia Grace Perry.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren and two sisters, Lucille Mohr and Doris Fitch.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from GTE in 1990 after 42 years. He and Eva owned Pear Tree Antiques in Jacksonville for several years. He was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Waverly Methodist Church, with burial in Waverly East Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Church.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, Waverly East Cemetery, or Waverly Rescue.
