Susan Beth Kalabus 1949 - 2018
Springfield, IL—Susan "Sue" Beth Kalabus, age 68, died on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.
Sue was born on December 14, 1949, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Robert L. and Mildred E. Deahl. She married the love of her life, Andrew J. Kalabus, on January 14, 1978. Sadly, he died in 1992.
Sue graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in German and an endorsement in Science and from the University of Illinois—Springfield with a master's degree in Teacher Leadership. She taught science and seventh grade, both her passion, for 20 years.
Sue is survived by her children, Robert D. (wife, Stephanie), Kiersten Lynch (husband, Darrell), Andrew C. Kalabus, Laura Prisby (husband, James), and Jennifer Bormet (husband, Brian); grandchildren, Landon, Kaylee, Livia, Colten, Isabella, Griffen, Jack, Jake, Elizabeth, and Alyssa; sisters, Becky Bertram and Cynthia Deahl; and a special "mother," Carolyn Deahl.
Springfield Visitation and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2477 W. Washington St., Springfield. A Memorial Ceremony will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Interment: Per Sue's request, graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 Greenview Memorial Gardens, 1201 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, IL for family, extended family and close friends.
Because of her dear love for those who cannot speak for themselves, memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League of Springfield of Sangamon County, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702.
The family of Susan "Sue" Beth Kalabus is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
