Susan Stark Obituary

Susan Schweighart Stark 1943 - 2018
Springfield, IL—Embraced by my daughter, Stacia and sister, Jane, with peace and yes, joy I passed away on March 2. I was born October 12 to Winifred and Rusty Schweighart, both deceased. In 1961 I married David Stark. We later divorced. In 1968, I gave birth to my daughter, my most cherished possession and proudest accomplishment. An accomplished seamstress, I fashioned my daughter's dresses and Halloween costumes, decorated a beautiful home and was passionate about education and the arts. My love for my daughter was immense, unwavering and foremost in all my decisions and actions. She remembers me with raven hair, a consummate lady, polished with etiquette and poise, a trendsetting dresser, a woman whose beauty turned heads. A mother who never missed a chance to say how beautiful you were and how much she loved you. I missed loving, nurturing and guiding my daughter and four spirited grandsons. They are irreplaceable treasures in my heart. Where I once was a caged bird, now I fly free. If you listen, you will hear my song of joy. Surviving are my daughter, Stacia Gerding, grandsons, John, Will, Charlie, and Henry Gerding, sisters, Jane Swift and Sandee Hanahan, brother, Mark Schweighart, nieces and nephews. Cremation by Butler Funeral Home.

I just now saw Susan's obituary. I became good friends with Susan in the 70s and will always cherish the memory of our times together. What a beauty lady, in every sense of the word.
