ALEXANDRIA, VA - Timothy D. Surratt, 44, of Alexandria, Va., died at 5:22 a.m., Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 7, 1970, in Springfield, Ill., to Billy D. and Janet Schladen Surratt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Brenda Nyberg; and brother-in-law, Chris Sheff.
He is survived by his best friend and life partner, Reggie O'Neal of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Beth Sheff of Auburn and twin sister, Kim (Jeff) Garland of Rochester; one aunt, one uncle, four nieces, three nephews and two cousins.
Tim loved to cruise, read, nature and gaming. He was a graduate of Springfield Southeast High School in 1988. He then moved to the East Coast to begin his new life. He lived in Virginia and surrounding areas working for the FBI for 26 years, most recently in International Operations.
Private services are being held.

Even though I only worked with him for a short period (while he was in W.Va.). I will always remember his infectious laugh, his sense of humor and his friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had not seen Tim since high school, but I was deeply saddened to hear of his death. He always made me smile.

I will miss my friend Tim. He was the most thoughtful, caring and positive man even when he was dealing with his own issues he remained strong. I admire how he supported his family over the last year. He was a great friend and coworker. Rest in peace Tim. My thoughts and prayers are with the Surratt family. We are sorry to hear of your loss. We worked with Tim for many years and found him to be a truly dedicated employee. Every day was welcomed with a smile as evident with his "can do" approach to life.
