SPRINGFIELD - Virginia L. Turner, 85, a resident of Mill Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Regency Nursing Care.
She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Taylorville, the daughter of Leonard and Gladys (Davis) McArdle. She married James Edgar Turner on May 31, 1942, in Wright City, Mo.; he preceded her in death March 9, 1992. Also preceding her in death were a son, Jonnie; brothers, Leonard McArdle Jr., Harold McArdle and Jim McArdle; and sisters, Dorothy Daniels and Jane McArdle.
Mrs. Turner, a retired homemaker, had been a clerk at Mode O Day and a playground attendant.
She was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, past president of the PTA and a member of Mother of Twins Club.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Edgar Turner of Thompsonville and Kevin (wife, Kathy) Turner of Taylorville; two daughters, Connie Robinson of Taylorville and Karen Hankins of Chatham; sister, Mary (husband, LeeDon) Peters of Taylorville; grandchildren, Brian Turner, Heather Obil, Rachel Hankins, Shannon Robinson, Nate Turner, Brad Turner and Ashley Turner; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Aliana and Nic Turner, Noah Mills and Paislie Obil.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Additional visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, with the Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville. Memorials to Taylorville Christian Church, Vision Way Christian School or Alzheimer's Association.
