BRUCE SCHRAMM (BEHR) Obituary

Behr went into his rainbow on January 18th, 2010.

He was born on June 18th, 1948 in San Diego where he enjoyed playing his guitar, surfing and being a student of life.

After graduation from La Jolla High School, Behr joined the Marine Corps, then trained to be a master chef before moving to the Pacific Northwest where he perfected his trade at several Bellingham restaurants.

Behr went on to own and operate various unique venues of his own, including the Captain's Belly's Deli, with truly the best soups and sandwiches (and witty banter) in town.

He was a whirlwind of energy whose motto was "Live to Give", and he felt great joy in watching others enjoy his culinary creations.

Behr had an unforgettable personality and despite a near fatal accident in 1996, and the resulting pain and disabilities he faced daily, Behr's energy didn't dissipate. He remained generous, passionate about his trade and ready for a big belly laugh. Much can be learned from his model of strength and faith.

Behr was a true and loyal friend and will be greatly missed by many, especially his soul-sister, Kato.

We take comfort in knowing that he is free of pain, and that there will be savory soups awaiting us in heaven.

There will be a gathering for those wishing to celebrate having known this colorful character at 2:00 on Saturday, March 13th, at the Sedro-Woolley Eagle's Hall, 1000 Metcalf.

There is an online guest book at www.lemleychapel.com.

If you wish to do something in Behr's memory, donate to a food bank, enjoy a good laugh or truly appreciate a delicious meal, then thank the chef.

March 8, 2010

I'm so sorry to hear about Behr, I've cut his hair for about 14 years, saw him not too long ago, didn't have a clue that he wasn't doing well, he was that kind of person. Always on the upbeat positive side. He was always bringing me smoked fish when he come to get a haircut. All of us girls at Monroe's Salon will miss him greatly, especially me, he was a great costomer, but more than that, a great person and friend. Love in Jesus love, your friend, Sue Dean
