CHARLENE FRENCH Obituary

Charlene French (Blackburn) passed away unexpectedly in her home in Ferndale, Washington on Friday, December 9th, 2016, at the age of 72.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Robert French, mother Natalie Blackburn, children; Janae (Rod) Schindler, Lorin French, Deanna (Brian) Belsby, Suzi (Jason) Pickett, and Benita (Dave) Bedell, 9 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandsons, sister Marlene Conovor, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlene made everybody feel like family. Liked by all, she was outgoing and full of joy; someone you always wanted near. She was often busy cooking for her family, shopping, volunteering at her church, or reading. She was happiest with a house full of family and friends.

In her earlier years she worked as a real estate agent, head cook for Ferndale High School, then a para educator, where she found her calling working with special needs children. She also enjoyed traveling in Australia and New Zealand, flying as co-pilot with her husband, camping, and boating.

Her funeral mass will be Saturday, December 17th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ferndale, at 10:00am with celebration of life to follow in the hall.

I have so many childhood memories of times when our families would get together. I especially loved holidays when we would all gather up at Aunt Natalie's after the dinner hour and visit. The thing I remember the most is Aunt Charlene's cute little giggly laugh. It just made you feel happy and loved.
Though it's been many years since the last time I saw her, I know I would have been greeted with a giggle and a hug. We would have sat down and chatted for hours and showed off our growing families and catch up on each other's lives and reminisce of days gone by.
Sadly my trip to Ferndale will be to say good bye until we meet again. Love you.

Dear Bob and family,
So sorry that Charlene has passed on to heaven. I remember her so much as we were students in Anacortes High School and graduated in 1962. She could make a tense moment into a humorous comedy as she had all of us laughing. She was multi-talented and friends with everyone. She will be missed but not forgotten. Rest in Peace. To: Charlene's Family, I'm so sorry for your huge loss! Charlene and I just recently spent the day at the Church Hall helping people sign up for family photos we had a blast chatting, cutting up with lots of laughter and just playing having a good time!
I will miss our chats, especially in the ladies room....she was definitely without a doubt a very, very special lady! & funny! I will grieve for her, and then with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ I will pray, that one day WE will reunite.

To Charlenes family,
We knew each other as little girls in Martinez Ca.
Our parents brought us together thru shell oil.
My dad requested your dad to be transferd to
Anacortes soon after we got their. We shared
holidays, parties, eating at each others house,
and so much more.when we left for California
I was so sad,but we our parents kept in touch
and we all had such a wonderful time, when we
got together. You grew out of those long braids
and became a lovely teenager who fell in love
with a skinny kid named Bob, and before you
new it,marriage and babies came along. There
were rough patches along the way, but You
always had laughter and love in your heart. My dad
sure loved to tease you, what a good sport you
were.
What a legacy you have left. What inspiration to
others as you had such a big heart and a gift
to serve others. You were the jack of all trades
sick or not you thought of family and friends first.
I remember those times of long ago; you me
Marlene Joyce Jackie Diane Marilyn, and those
cute little twins Pat and Pam. What an experience
in my life, to know, Charlene Natalie Blackburn
French. Heaven is your new home so we will
see you when we get their honey.. You called
everyone honey.
with love to your family,
Cheri Sue Sherry Erman
