EILEEN CARPENTER Obituary

Eileen Janice (Ryan) Carpenter of Mount Vernon, Washington passed away on Monday, January 11th after a lengthy illness.

Eileen was born in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School. She attended Arizona Western College and graduated from California State University-East Bay. She was co-owner of Master Marine and Checkered Flag Marine in Mount Vernon for over 40 years.

Eileen's caring spirit and sense of humor were evident to anyone she met. Always quick with a smile or a prank, she had a knack for making people feel welcomed and like part of the family.

Eileen was well known in the disabled community where she volunteered countless hours to make life better for people with disabilities in Skagit County. She was also a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, bringing Holy Communion to the homebound.

She is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Larry M. Carpenter; her children Michele (Charles) Sagona of Johnson City, TN, Jennifer Staite (Nate) of Mount Vernon, WA, and Jon Carpenter at the family home. She is also survived by her grandson, Ryan Staite of Mount Vernon, WA; a sister Carolyn Maki of Tucson, AZ; a brother Michael (Genie) Ryan of Rio Rancho, NM; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Alice (Remily) Ryan and a sister Kathryn Ann (Robert) Valentino of Las Vegas, NV.

Due to COVID restrictions, a funeral mass will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
