George DeVries Obituary

Palm Desert, CA - George DeVries - 10/22/45 - 10/29/25

George DeVries, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on October 29th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's. A longtime resident of Palm Desert, California, George and his wife, Nancy, made their home there for the past 25 years after raising their family in Mount Vernon, Washington.

George began his career as a school teacher and basketball coach in Minnesota before moving to Washington State in 1972. There, he joined Blade Chevrolet, where he spent 25 years as both a salesman and general manager. After relocating to Palm Desert, he continued his passion for connecting with people, joining the Marriott and quickly becoming the company's #1 salesperson.

George and Nancy shared 58 years of marriage-years filled with love, partnership, and a shared devotion to God. Together they raised four children, who were among his greatest joys:

- Geoff (Susie) and their children Karli, Lily, and Maggie

- Suzanne (Dave) and their children Alexis, Addyson, and JD

- Mikki (Derek) and their children Mikayla, Tristan, and Stella

- Jeremy (Lauren) and their children Chloe and Trent

Guided by a strong Christian faith, George dedicated his life to serving others with humility and integrity. During his years in Mount Vernon, he helped start an evangelical church and remained active in church leadership and community service throughout his life. Everything he did reflected his desire to honor God and care for those around him.

Beyond his work and ministry, George embraced life's adventures. He loved traveling the world, fishing, skiing, golfing, and giving his time to his community. His warmth, generosity, and quiet strength touched countless lives. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love. George will be remembered as a man who lived his beliefs daily, cherished his family deeply, and met life's trials with grace and gratitude. His was truly a life well lived.

George was preceded in death by his parents John and Minnie DeVries and is survived by his wife Nancy, his children, Geoff, Suzanne, Mikki and Jeremy, also his siblings John (Linda), Ron, Marilyn, Lois (Steve), Laura, Dave (Shelly), Tim (Denise).

Jeremy and Mikki I am so sorry for your loss. We went to high school together and I always remembered your dad selling cars at blade, if you could buy a car from blade you made it in life, I bought my first truck from them two years ago and shared that sentiment with them at blade. Your father will be be deeply missed and my thoughts are with you
