Sedro-Woolley - Helen Lucille Meins, 99, of Sedro Woolley, WA peacefully passed away on January 23rd, 2025, after a life wonderfully lived.
Helen was the fourteenth of fifteen children born to Coleman and Bessie Martin on November 9th, 1925, in her beloved Sedro Woolley, where she lived the entirety of her life. She attended school and met the love of her life, Walter 'Bud' Meins, in Sedro Woolley. They married on September 16th, 1946, in Mt. Vernon. They went on to have five children, JoAnn, Sandy, Raymond, Peggy, and Pamela.
Helen was a stay-at-home Mom up until her children were all out of school, where she went on to a career as a rural mail carrier for fifteen years. She loved traveling with her family, camping, and bowling. Her love for travel and adventure only continued throughout her lifetime. From traveling around WA and beyond in campers and RVs to Greece, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and numerous states, she lived life to the fullest. Her favorite traveling companions were her husband Bud, her children, grandchildren, and multiple family members including her niece and partner in crime Barb. Together they were quite the duo, spreading love and laughter everywhere they went. In her later years Helen spent as much time as she could visiting her family between Montana, Colorado, and Kansas. She rarely missed events, be it family camping trips to Pearrygin Lake State Park, watching all her grandchildren's sporting events, or supporting her favorite sports teams. Her love of nature was evident in the beautiful gardens she grew over the years.
What we all remember of Helen was her willingness to love you unconditionally. Her family and friends meant the world to her, and she made sure you knew that. Her wit and humor could instantly improve any situation. She was generous, loyal, and a true testament to a life fully lived. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a great great grandmother, an aunt to many, a friend to all...and lastly, she was true to herself and anyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed but always loved.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bud Meins, son Raymond Meins, Daughter Peggy Stiles, Son (in-law) Louie Stiles, and Grandsons Aaron Requa and Lucas Frantz.
She is survived by her daughter's JoAnn Requa (Louie) of Sedro Woolley, WA, Sandy Schafer (Wayne) of Aurora, CO, and Pam Jeannin (Phil) of Tonganoxie, KS. Twelve Grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Helens extended family is too large to count as we all know.
A celebration of life will be held on February 22nd, 2025, at 12:30pm.
The Barn, 303 East Jones Road, Sedro Woolley, WA 98284.
