Jim was one of the most important influences in my life when I was in High School. I went on several Quest Northwest trips into the wilderness during the summer where Jim was a leader. He was one of the few people I seemed to connect easily with. He taught and inspired an incredible amount regarding the outdoors - which continues to this day. I knew he had health issues, and I knew he would likely go early because of them.... I just didn't know how late it was.... Reading his obituary is nothing less than a lesson on how to live a life worth living....

Ah Jim, you left us too soon. I knew you and about your health issues for about five years and I learned about living a courageous, loving and giving life. You were my friend and you made me a better person. I too had a brain event some years back and it changed me, for the better I hope. Your encouragement and friendship is missed. You're flying free now Jim. My sympathies and condolences to Elke and your extended family. I wish them well and to have peace. With Love.

Knowing Jim later in life it’s exciting to read about what a life he’s had. His contributions are many and a dear heart I’ve experienced as knowing him these past few years.
I’m actually reading his very interesting book this week. Fly free Jim!

Jim was one of the most gentle man I've ever known and was easily and genuinely full of delight that he shared generously. His intent to share his world, his experiences of the larger soul of man was there all along. My life is much enriched for having been a friend, and it doesn't surprise me that when he finally went, he went quickly and cleanly and painlessly. May you rest in peace and fly free! Love you!!

Thank you for being the warrior of Light and spreading your compassion and love to so many. No matter how rattled I felt, your smile could calm my soul. Onward to the next adventure(s) - see you again my friend

I didn't know him well, but recall meeting you both on a dock in La Conner years ago. Your tribute to him speaks of a life well lived. Easy to see that he is missed by all who knew him. I too had an NDE when only seventeen, so I do understand how much it influenced his perspective on death. Yes, he has flown free to join the great cosmic flow... dancing in the LIGHT! May your loving memories wrap you warmly and comfort you in this time of loss and grief Elke!!! Sending love, Sue Shellenberger

When he came to visit us in Sedona, with Elke, he seemed to really enjoy walking around the red rocks on the red dirt trails. He was always a gentleman and everyone could see what a kind soul he was.

A beautiful tribute to a very special man. While I only met Jim in passing one time, I followed Elke's work, and know the wonderful love they shared and shared with others. My deepest condolences to you and your family, Elke. How wonderful you found one another and lived such a sweet life together.
