Lawrence Solver Obituary
Mount Vernon - Lawrence "Larry" Edward Solver, 86, of Mount Vernon, WA, joyfully received his promotion to glory on September 4, 2025.
Born on November 4, 1938, in Edmonds, WA, to Augustine and Hattie Solver, Larry's life was marked by faith from an early age. As a young boy in Sunday school, he made the most important decision of his life-asking Jesus to be his Lord and Savior. From that moment on, he lived with purpose and joy, sharing Christ's love in his words, his work, and his service to others.
Larry's greatest earthly blessing came when he met the love of his life, Janene Campbell, in Stanwood. Driving down the road one day, he noticed a young woman walking with a friend. When he tried to speak to her, she replied, "I can't talk to you until you meet my parents." It was, without question, love at first sight. That moment began a love story that lasted a lifetime. On March 14, 1958, Larry and Janene married and went on to raise five sons in just ten years-a true testament to their devotion and partnership.
In 1963, the family moved from Mountlake Terrace to Mount Vernon, where Larry and Janene planted roots. They became deeply involved in their church community, worshiping at Emmanuel Baptist Church-where they even helped build the new church on College Way-before later attending Faith Baptist Church of Skagit Valley and CTK Skagit. Larry served faithfully as a church deacon, always giving of his time, talents, and treasures with a willing heart.
Larry was also a pillar in his community. In 1971, with his friend Asa Pearson, he opened Avon Body Shop LLC. He often joked that he entered the auto repair trade "by accident"-after crashing his very first car on the way home from buying it, his father taught him how to repair it, sparking a lifelong career. For Larry, the shop was never just about cars-it was about people. He passed his skills on to his sons and grandchildren while treating employees like extended family. Those who worked with him knew they were respected, cared for, and valued.
Beyond work, Larry cherished the outdoors. He loved summer camping trips, days spent fishing, and his annual hunting adventures with friends. But more than anything, he treasured his family. Gatherings for birthdays and holiday celebrations with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.
Larry was preceded in his heavenly homecoming by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janene. He is survived by his five sons: Richard (Tracy), Jim (Peggy), Dave (Imee), Tim (Kristi), and Scott (Michelle); 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered as a man of faith, love, and generosity-a shining light whose life reflected Christ's love to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at CTK Hope, 201 Cascade Mall Drive, Burlington, WA 98233.
