Lee Kue Obituary

Anacortes - Lee Kue of Anacortes, WA, passed away on November 22, 2023. Lee lived a life of service and dedication to his country, his community, and his family. He was born in 1939 in Norfolk, VA, and joined the U.S. Army immediately after high school. He proudly served for 20 years, working around the country and the world, and achieved the rank of Major. He married the love of his life, Melody, in 1970. After their daughters were born, Lee retired from the Army and they moved back to Skagit Valley, where Melody had been raised. As the Executive Director of the Skagit County Emergency Medical Services Council, he helped to establish the county-wide 911 system. He enjoyed service projects as an active member of the Lions and Rotary Clubs in Mount Vernon for many years. After retirement, his most treasured role was becoming Papa to his three grandchildren. His memory will live on through Melody, his beloved wife of 53 years, and their daughters and their families, Beth, Jason, and Tia Anglum, and Kristi, Brady, Kylan, and Avery Guinn. They will always cherish his curiosity, love of travel, woodworking skills, and mischievous sense of humor.

Our condolences to the family. We loved the time we spent getting to know your family when we were young. We remember your mother trying to teach us to read in Chinese. We remember playing with our cousin on our weekend visits. Aunt Betty was so sweet. Your absence in our lives was missed. Fly high Wo Mee Kue (Lee) we hope you rest in peace because peace is what we've found.

Lee served Skagit County's citizens through Skagit County EMS for many years. The assistance to all of our EMS providers and fire departments is beyond measure. Lee provided the leadership that made that all happen. On behalf of the Big Lake Fire Department, thank you Lee.
