Leroy George Haberly

1930 - 2021

Mount Vernon - Leroy George Haberly, 90 passed away August 15, 2021, in Mount Vernon, WA.

Leroy was born in Bremerton, WA to Olga (Teien) and Roy Haberly on December 8, 1930. He spent his early childhood in Poulsbo, WA. The family moved to Oak Harbor, WA shortly after his sister Shirley was born to start Roy's Bake Shop, where he helped with the family business and learned early on the value of a strong work ethic. During his high school years, the family moved to Marysville, WA where he excelled at track and football before graduating in 1948. After high school, he earned an associate degree at Everett Junior College. He went on to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War and shortly after joining, married his sweetheart Janet Sonja Anderson on Christmas Eve 1950. While serving in the Air Force Janet and Leroy started their family.

In 1954 the family moved to West Seattle so Leroy could attend trade school to become an electrician. They continued to build their home and family in Lake Forest Park until 1974 when they moved their family of seven to Sedro-Woolley where he established Sterling Electric in 1972.

Leroy and Janet enjoyed country living with their family and traveling in their motorhome.

Leroy had a good sense of humor and was ready with a joke to share wherever he went. He loved the opportunity to perform and MC at church talent shows. He enjoyed teaching sabbath school and finding creative ways to bring the Bible to life for the children; making suits of armor, wooden swords, treasure chests, etc.

Leroy and Janet shared 56 years together before she passed in 2007. Later that year he completed their dream home in Conway, WA where he spent the remainder of his years.

Leroy is survived by his 5 children, Gail (Brad) Hagen of Arlington, WA, Gary (Sheryle) Haberly of Burlington, WA, Les Haberly of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Loren Haberly (Linda Bachmann) of Mount Vernon, WA, Glen (Marysue) Haberly of Mount Vernon, WA, as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and his sister Shirley Ibsen of Marysville, WA. He's preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Janet Haberly, and his second wife of 9 years Helen Smith.

Revelation 21:4 NKJV "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
