PAT GALBRAITH Obituary

January 5, 1932-
January 26, 2017

Pat was born in Mount Vernon, Washington and grew up on the family dairy farm in Conway. That is also where he began his passion for tractors.

He attended grade school in Conway and Graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1950. Pat married his High School Sweetheart, Bernadine, on April 24, 1954 at First Lutheran Church and celebrated 62 wonderful years.

Pat had a successful truck driving career driving many types of trucks. He began driving with Skagit Valley Trucking in 1955. In 1965 Pat began driving for Carnation hauling milk which he really enjoyed in Whatcom and Skagit Valley until they closed their doors.

Then in 1975 he joined Concrete Nor'West driving mixers and gravel trucks.

Pat did a brief retirement in 1980 but got bored and started driving school bus for Mount Vernon schools. Thirteen years later, Pat retired for good.

Over the 62 years Pat enjoyed collecting antique John Deere tractors and was a member of the Cascade Two Cylinder Club. He loved traveling to parades, antique tractor shows and plow days to show off his John Deere.

He also was a member of the Elks in Mount Vernon.

Pat and Bernadine also became active with the Booster club at Skagit Valley College traveling to Branson, Missouri for some good County Western music and other trips. Pat also was a member of First Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.

He also enjoyed time with his family and loved giving rides to the Grandchildren on his John Deere.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Elise Galbraith of Skagit Valley, Washington.

Survivors include his wife Bernadine, Mount Vernon. Brother Mike (Joanne) Galbraith Blaine, Washington, Sister Ellen (Bill) Wiegand, Mount Vernon. Sister- in-law Gayle (Jim) Halmo, Graham, Wash. Sister- in-law Dayle (Gordon) Young, Salt Lake City Utah. Daughter Nancy (Don) Reeves of Melbourne, Australia, Son David Galbraith of Mt. Vernon. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon or Cascade Two-Cylinder Tractor Club.

Memorial Service will be held at First Lutheran Church at 2015 E Blackburn Road, Mount Vernon on February 3rd at 1:30pm.

Sorry to hear of Pat's passing. I met him after having a conversation with him when I was a grocery checker at Fred Meyer. My first husband and I rented the old dairy farm on Starbird rd. I always enjoyed talking to him at Freds. My condolences to his family. Rest in Peace Pat. Thanks for the conversations about the tractors and school bus driving. Donna Mackowiak Huckabay
