Ray Sizemore, 71, of Burlington, WA and long time Skagit County businessman passed on January 5, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was the third child of Clarence Sizemore and Ardella (Retallic) Sizemore. Ray was born April 9, 1939 in the family home on Cook Road in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Ray grew up attending schools in Washington, California and Missouri.
He began his career in law enforcement at an early age and became the youngest police chief of Newport, Oregon at the age of 25. Ray served in law enforcement for many years ending that career as chief of the Marysville, WA police department when he suffered a back injury in the late 1970's.
Never one to stay idle, he went into the shake mill business operating a shake mill in Whatcom County for several years. Later he became owner of Cimarron Trucking in Anacortes, WA until his passing.
Ray served on the City Council completing many projects for the citizens in which he took great pride. Ray was always there for anyone who needed him.
He is survived by three daughters Lori Russell of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Debra Woodson of Texas, Judy Crosby of Montana, and two sons, Lonnie Burt of Oregon, and Randall Sizemore of the family home in Burlington, WA, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bruce Sizemore, and sister, Dellavone (Sizemore) Steen.
A memorial service will be held at the Via Jet Hanger, 15053 Crosswind Drive (Skagit Regional Airport in Bayview) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 with Rev. Dwight Woodruff officiating. A reception will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home in Anacortes, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Foundation or to a charity of your choice.

Ray was a very strong and reliable man! He took care of many people and took pride in that. I will always be grateful for the things he did for me and my kids. He will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace now and until we meet again. Love always,
