Ray Ellis, 89, passed away May 26, 2012 in Oak Harbor, WA.
He was born August 8, 1922 in Auburn, WA to Raymond O. & Louise (Waters) Ellis.
He graduated from high school in Auburn and went on to graduate from WSU with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He established the first veterinary clinic in Oak Harbor in 1946.
Doc's love of music and the trumpet took him through high school, college and beyond to play with local bands such as the Oak Harbor Community Band, The Hi Tides, and the Sea Notes. He belonged to and was a charter member of many community organizations; he served on the Oak Harbor City Council and was the Mayor of Oak Harbor from 1960 to 1972.
A memorial service for Doc will be held at the Grace by the Sea Church in Oak Harbor Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
