Regina "Lisa" Strickland 63, a resident of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Skagit Valley Hospital. She was born In Honolulu, Hawaii on March 10, 1958 to Edward and Wada Lou (Moore) Garner.
Lisa's father was in the military, so they moved around a lot. As a young person the family moved to North Carolina where she gained her southern charm. After spending many years in North Carolina, Lisa brought her southern hospitality to Washington State. She eventually met Jim Strickland, and Jim and Lisa ended up being married for 37 years and raised their family in Mount Vernon.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge and worked tirelessly to help those in need. She loved preparing Christmas food baskets for families less fortunate. Lisa was at her best when preparing food for family and friends and planning amazing celebrations. She was the hostess with the mostest! Lisa's sense of humor kept everyone around her smiling or laughing until they cried.
Her laughter was infectious. Lisa had a beautiful life with Jim filled with camping, boating and travel adventures. All of these beautiful memories will be held close to our hearts forever. You cannot think of Lisa without smiling.
She was a member of the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge #1640 and the Inland Boatmen's Union (IBU).
She is survived by her husband, James Strickland, of the family home; daughters, Aubrey Sykes of Kauai, HI, Rachael Strickland of Mount Vernon; step-father, John Townsend; step-children, James Strickland, Jr. of Ellensburg, Shelly Johnston of Burlington, Kristi Strickland of Anacortes; aunt, Betty and Glenn Loy of Mount Vernon; uncle, Daniel and Glenda Moor of Tacoma; 34 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eddie Garner of North Carolina; sister, Tonya Stone of Rocky Mount, NC.
In memory of Lisa, memorials may be given to the Moose Lodge #1640's Christmas Basket Fund at P.O. Box 1433, Mount Vernon, WA 98273 or American Heart Association, Northwest Affiliate at 710 2nd Ave., Suite 900, Seattle, WA 98104.
