Richard Kenneth Vanderpool

1961 - 2025

Caldwell - Richard Kenneth Vanderpool, born January 8, 1961, passed away peacefully at his home in Caldwell, Idaho surrounded by family after a brief hard-fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Sandee Blades Vanderpool, their son Richard Travis Vanderpool, his wife, Kassi, of Yakima, Washington, his parents, Bonnie and Robert Vanderpool, of New Plymouth, Idaho, his sister, Stephanie Hult, and her husband, Bart, of Blackfoot, Idaho and his sister, Jacque Vanderpool, and her husband, David Johanek, of Boise, Idaho.

Rick was proceeded in death by his daughter, Randi Nicole Vanderpool, and his grandson, Leighton Richard Vanderpool.

Rick was born and raised in Fruitland, Idaho and graduated from Boise State University in 1982. Upon graduation, he and his wife relocated to beautiful Mount Vernon, Washington where they met many wonderful friends and coworkers who became lifelong friends. He was the director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Skagit Valley Hospital when he retired in 2023. Upon retirement, he and his wife relocated to their beloved Idaho, where they made their home in Caldwell, Idaho.

Rick was an avid golfer, guitar player, a beginning harmonica player, motorcycle rider and loved riding around in his bright yellow Hellcat. Rick was a caring father, grandfather and friend.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, November 6th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 504 South Kimball Avenue, Caldwell, Idaho. A celebration of life will take place at the Caldwell Elks Lodge,1015 N Kimball Ave, Caldwell, Idaho, on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend both events.

Sandee and Travis wish to thank the Saint Luke's Hospital teams at the Nampa Oncology Clinic, the Home Health nurses, and especially, the hospice team.
