Ronald Joiner Obituary

Montlake Terrace, WA - Ronald Wayne Joiner passed away on August 25th, 2024.

Ron was born June 8, 1949, in Sedro Woolley, WA. He grew up in Skagit County and was a proud member of the Sedro Woolley High School class of '67.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Joiner and Elsie Gertrude Little Joiner, brother Robert Joiner, and sister in-law Evelyn Darrow.

He is survived by his aunt Shirley Joiner Alexander of Collierville, TN; sister Marie Stein and her husband Dan of Hudson, NY; two daughters: Ronnie Joiner of Boise, ID, and Marina Ball and her husband Jarrod of Burlington, WA, as well as their mother, Kathleen Darrow-Joiner of Clear Lake, WA; two grandchildren Kelson Ball of Clear Lake and Katherine Ball of Mukilteo, WA; a niece Kate Stein of Chatham, NY, and a nephew Ben Stein of Cumberland Foreside, ME; and two nieces Stacey Crockett and Suzette Crockett, both of Bellingham, WA.

He is also survived by a stepdaughter Angela Adams and her husband Brian of Stanwood, WA, a stepson Kevin Breniman and his wife Jill of Littlerock, AK and their mother Linda Harris of Big Lake, WA; step grandchildren, Lauren, Alexandra, Emily, and Isabelle; and five great grandchildren.

Ron loved music and enjoyed preparing playlists for his community in Montlake Terrace where he resided. He also liked to go on drives and sing along with the radio. Everyone had to keep quiet when Willie Nelson came on. He spent many weekends hiking in the North Cascade Mountains.

He was a woodworker and enjoyed photography, drawing and writing. He worked as a sawyer, a cabinetmaker, and a doormaker.

His daughters and grandchildren fondly remember how interested he was in everyone, and seemingly knew every third person they met while running errands and checking in on friends. He loved to talk with people, and he loved to tell stories. Sometimes it was hard to tell if the stories were true. Many wild stories were true.

Ron would encourage friends and family to visit the mountains rather than attend a service. His family suggests' memorials be made to Washington's National Park Fund.

Condolences to all of Ron's family and friends. I worked next to Ron for a couple of years in the '90s, we shared many stories and became friends. We shared many interests in addition to our work, American roots music being one. Ron was one of the most interesting people I have had the pleasure to know.

Oh I just learned of Ron´s passing from a neighbor he had in Mountkake terrace. He was a client of mine for the last couple years. I loved having him in my chair. We talked about music and his life while I styled his hair. He was a gentle soul and I am forever grateful for knowing him. Too bad I didn´t know him sooner. Rest in peace friend. Terry and I enjoyed visiting the Joiners in their unusual but cozy homes. Terry and Ron were classmates. We were neighbors on Reed St. in SW. The Ron I knew was creative, quiet and kind. Lost track of Ron after Terry passed in 2011. I am sorry to hear of Ron's passing. Condolences to Ronnie and Marina.
