Burlington - Tim Sheldon, a 50-year resident of Skagit County, died at Peace Health Hospital on October 22, just 2 days shy of his 76th birthday. Tim moved to Skagit Valley in 1975 where he became known to literally hundreds of employees and residents as the manager of McDonalds, first at the Mount Vernon store and then later in Burlington. Tim was a very popular boss and many of his former employees remained in touch with him long after they were no longer working for him. Tim's legacy is that of a truly "good guy," the single most comment made to his family about Tim whenever his name was mentioned. Tim's good nature, sense of humor and easy-going manner were evident, even during his last weeks when he was confined to Peace Health Hospital in Sedro Woolley. Sitting vigil at Tim's bedside, his family was repeatedly told by the very caring and kind hospital staff that he was a favorite patient.
Tim was a forever sports enthusiast, especially when it comes to basketball. Born and reared in Indiana where basketball is defined by many as a religion, Tim never tired of watching college ball - especially his beloved Indiana University Hoosiers. He was also a fan of football and baseball, having followed the St. Louis Cardinals since he was a child listening to games on the radio with his dad.
Born to Eldon and Norma Sheldon on October 24, 1949, in Princeton, Indiana, Tim was one of 4 brothers. Both of his parents and one of his brothers, Patrick, have predeceased him. His youngest brother, Mark Sheldon, resides in Princeton, Indiana.
Tim is survived by his son, Trevor Sheldon and wife Lisa of Bow, Washington. He was also the grandfather to Caleb Sheldon and Tayler Sheldon. Tim adored his son and grandsons, and nothing made him happier than attending their basketball and football games throughout high school and college. Special holidays were spent together at Trevor's house watching sports with his boys, who were always competing with each other about whose teams were the best.
Tim is also survived by his former wife, Anne Roberson, with whom he had a special relationship and his very dear friend, Bethany Gilbertson.
Tim was much loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Tim's life will be scheduled at a later date.
A veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam war, Tim was a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project to whom donations can be made in his memory.
