GENEVIEVE BERBERICH 01/27/1927 - 11/13/2025 Genevieve Berberich, 98, of Sleepy Eye died peacefully on November 13, 2025, at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9 until 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with Christian Mothers Rosary at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Japanese Martyrs Catholic Cemetery in Leavenworth. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Genevieve was born January 27, 1927, to Alois and Loretta Braun at home on the farm in Home Township. She attended School District 39 and two years at St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. As a young girl she worked as a hired girl for families. During the war she worked seasonally at Del Monte. Later she also worked seasonally at AUI. She was united in marriage to Harold Berberich on May 20, 1947. Together they farmed in Leavenworth Township and raised five children. When they retired, they moved off the farm into Sleepy Eye. Genevieve and Harold were married 58 years when Harold died in 2005. In 2015, Genevieve moved into Lake Villa and lived there until November of 2023 when she moved to Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm. Genevieve was blessed to live for nearly a century and was the last survivor of the Braun children. Genevieve always said she lived a very ordinary life, but to her family she was extraordinary. Genevieve is survived by daughters, Darlene (Gary) Hoffmann and Rita (Gayle) Goblirsch; sons, Clifford (Sandra) Berberich and Carl Berberich; son-in-law, Kenneth Hoffmann; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter, Linda Hoffmann; parents; six brothers; and daughter-in-law, Anne Berberich.
