Albert Morando Obituary

Albert J Morando Sr, affectionately known as "Papa Al" passed away peacefully on Monday February 13, 2023, surrounded by his adoring children and devoted wife, Rose Marie.

Born in San Francisco's Mission District on October 23, 1935 to Giacomo and Caterina Morando. Albert attended St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from Lick Wilmerding High School in San Francisco.

Albert met the great love of his life, Rose Marie, and they were wed in 1957. They were blessed with four children: Michael, Kenneth, Julie, and Albert Jr. Though Albert worked diligently to provide for his family his whole life through; working for both Larabarru and Parisian bakeries for 35 years, fatherhood was his greatest vocation. He made sure that his children's lives were filled with joy. They took many family trips to Disneyland, Lake Tahoe, and Graeagle during the summers. Albert's pride in his children was absolutely unmatched.

Albert was a pillar of the Millbrae community, where he lived with his family for 61 years, and his absence will be felt strongly in all corners. He was a member of the Millbrae Lions club for over 40 years, serving both as an active member as well as past president. A proud Italian man, Albert was a great lover of the Italian American Club where he was known for his infectious smile and endless storytelling. A man of great faith, he was a devoted member of the Saint Dunstan's community where his children and grandchildren attended school. Albert also belonged to the Italian Catholic Federation.

Most importantly, Albert's grandchildren were the light of his life. He attended every event, no matter how small, and always could be found in the front row. With a smile on his face and a cheeky joke always at the ready, he brought laughter and light into any room he entered. Papa simply had an abundance of joy that he shared with all who were lucky enough to know him.

Albert will be remembered for his deep kindness, his love of red wine, the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, and his steadfast adoration of his wife. It simply cannot be overstated how truly loved he was in this life, and how greatly he will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Giacomo and Caterina Morando, his sister, Clara Bagnasco (Carlo), his brother-in-law, Art Pignati, his nephews David Bagnasco and Pete Pignati (Marianne).

Albert is survived by his wife Rose Marie, his four children, Michael (Diane), Kenneth (Silvia), Julie (Michael)  and Albert Jr.

(Eleonora), his grandchildren, Dominic, Andrea, Gina (Domenic), Dante, Michelle, Brooks, Dario, Vincenzo, Gino, and Giovanni, his great grandchildren Emilia and Salvatore and his niece Linda Bradbury (Jeff.)  He is also survived by extended family; Sylvia Pignati (Art), Jeannine, Craig (Jessica), and many great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at  Chapel of the Highlands followed by  a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dunstans Church in Millbrae.

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Anthony's Foundation, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
