Gary Lash

Gary Lash, beloved one-of-a-kind Dad, movie buff, friend passed unexpectedly in June at 70. You may have known him as the knowledgeable computer guy, or, a few years back, the savvy PTA parent fixing computers for teachers at Highlands Elementary.
Raised in the Bronx the oldest child of Irving Lash, who served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, and Muriel, who was a nurse, Gary was a New Yorker, through and through. He graduated from Queens College with chemistry and English degrees and held opinions on many topics, from politics to the best movies and TV to the best pastrami.

As a young adult, he briefly served as a taxi driver. A highlight was spotting Lauren Bacall and having a good chat. He also was a reporter who interviewed Christopher Reeve, among other actors. In 1983, Gary was proud to work as a roadie / crew member for David Byrne and "Talking Heads" on their world famous "Stop Making Sense" tour and the following year traveled with the band in Australia. For many years Gary ran his own audio-video business, Caliburn.

Gary was an avid TV and film buff, with a deep love for Star Trek and Lawrence of Arabia. He and his daughter enjoyed debating movies, books and media of all kinds.

Gary is remembered with love by Amari, Glenna, Brant, Laurie, Martin, Pam, Elizabeth, Frank, Architha, Carol and many other people he touched deeply. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Travis.
