David Larkin Obituary

David C. Larkin, 41, of North St. Marys Street, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Chautauqua Lake.
He was born September 18, 1980, in St. Marys, son of Darlene Meyer Larkin, who survives of St. Marys, and the late Dana Larkin, who passed away in June 2003. David was a lifelong resident of St. Marys, was a 1998 graduate of St. Marys Area High School, as well as a 2003 graduate of Penn State University. He was currently a real estate agent at Elk County Real Estate.
In addition to his mother, Darlene Larkin, David is survived by his brother, Dustin Larkin of Kersey; his nieces, Lola and Lux Larkin; and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Besides his father, Dana Larkin, David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Jean Meyer; and by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Patricia Larkin. David was the epitome of what growing up in a small community can flourish into. He took pride in the history and heritage of the community and the people that make it. He was involved in countless organizations including the Stackpole Hall Foundation, St. Marys Heritage Preservation Group, Junior Achievement, Shade Tree Commission, the fireworks committee, Ridgway Heritage Council, St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Elk County, ECCOTA, Young Professionals Group, CEC, Red Cross, and more.
Through his personality and perseverance, David managed to network and connect with people, families, and businesses that stretched far beyond Elk County. He believed in supporting our local small businesses and frequented places like New Horizons Healthy Foods and Pfaff's Market. He was a Christian by faith and had a strong personal relationship with God. He enjoyed spending his Sunday mornings watching the Tri County Church services. His heart was as big as his friends list and family tree, whose roots spread throughout Elk County. David enjoyed traveling and discovered a passion for camping. He took health of mind, body, and soul seriously and strived to take the best care of himself and those around him. He adored his two nieces and was adored by so many. He appreciated art and décor and was drawn to architecture from a very young age. David is irreplaceable in our hearts and in our community.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service which will be held at the Camp Owners, 300 Camp Owners Road, St. Marys, on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Ross Miceli officiating. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held to gather and pay tribute to David and all that he has brought to our lives.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the David Larkin Scholarship, c/o the Elk County Community Foundation, PO Box 934, St. Marys, PA 15857.

Dear Darlene and entire family,
So very saddened to hear this hard on the heart news. David was instrumental in closing the sale of our home in St Marys. A wonderful friend and super real estate agent, He started our new adventures in Florida and we are now living the dream. David never said if you did something he always said when you do it..... Gone too soon for his family and friends , he still had more lives to change and improve the world.... Larry and K8 Nekuza ,, Bradenton ,, Florida

I remember that cute little guy that sat at my table and patiently waited for his mom to return. He was staying briefly with us while mom had a commitment. What a sweet smile and quietly feeling at home with us. He certainly grew up to love life and others all around him. I´m sorry I wasn´t around to watch that, but looking back now, glad for those times we could spend with him as a child.
What an inspiration he grew up to be.
My love and prayers to you Darlene. Be encouraged by the young man he became.

Darlene,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. Although I never knew him, his story of his life showed how fully he lived it.

Today, your heart is once again filled with pain, but believe in God the way David did, and He will ease your pain. Slowly, the crack in your heart will mend, and though your heart will remain scarred, the scar is there to remind you of those who have gone on before. The scar is there to always remember and know that one day we will all walk again with those who have gone on before. To walk with those who today no longer live in pain but are free of this worlds problems, and are walking with friends and family.

As time eases the pain, build a castle in your mind, and fill each room will all the memories he brought you. Visit that castle everyday, close your eyes, see him, touch him and smile, though your heart is breaking.

No one knows why God gives us so much to deal with in life, but, it's His plan, and not ours to always understand. But always remember, he's not really gone, he's just Gone on Before.

I do pray that God lifts you up as you struggle with this loss...

Attached is a link to a song, titled gone on before, in it is a powerful message....

Our paths crossed briefly for such a short time but it was a meeting of a lifetime. I am so glad to have met you, David, and I will not forget you. Rest in peace, nephew.
