Michael B. Baumgratz, 72, of 3061 Grant Rd., Ridgway, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 28, 2018, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 29, 1946, in St. Marys, son of the late Michael J. and Marie (Masemiller) Baumgratz. He resided in Ridgway for many years and was Catholic by faith. He was a member of the Moose, American Legion, and V.F.W. He enjoyed restoring old cars, puzzles, and drinks with friends. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had been employed by Metaldyne for over 30 years.
He is survived by his companion Brenda J. Krise of Ridgway; two daughters: Heather (James) Meyer of Greensburg; and Jennifer (Bryan) Holby of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; two sons: Matthew Baumgratz of New Hampshire; and Michael Baumgratz; 13 grandchildren: Kai, Owen, Mena, Aria, Samantha, Alexandra, Karen, Valerie, Michael, Gregory, Lesley, Bethany, and Tonya; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two stepsons, Eric and Jason Cook.
Funeral and Committal Services for Michael B. Baumgratz will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 30 at 4 p.m., with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail. Officiating will be Rev. Audra L. Krise, Pastor of the Paradise United Church of Christ and the Trinity United Church of Christ.
Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to Elk Haven Nursing Home or to the charity of the donor's choice.
