Ruth E. Grumley

1919 - 2022

Ruth E. Grumley, 103, of the Lutheran Home at Kane and formerly of Johnsonburg, died Saturday morning, October 1, 2022 at the Lutheran Home. She was born on July 7, 1919 in Johnsonburg a daughter to the late John and Elizabeth Miller Grumley.
A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Ruth was a 1936 graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Ruth retired in 1977 from the Johnsonburg Area School district after 34 years of service as the Secretary to the Superintendent. She had also worked for the Elk County Commissioner for two years.
Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews including special Great-Nieces Lisa Thompson, her husband Dan and their children of Ft. Wayne, IN and Johnna Scobey, her husband Mike and their children of Warrensburg, MO and Great-Nephew John Williams, Jr. of Lafayette, IN.
In addition to her parents John "Jack" and Elizabeth Miller Grumley, Ruth is predeceased by brothers John, Thomas, Robert, William and James and a sister Helen in infancy and her special niece Patricia Frantz.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service for Ruth E. Grumley to be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Pfleiger, Chaplain of the Lutheran Home at Kane presiding. Interment will be private in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Johnsonburg. There will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ruth's name to the Johnsonburg Public Library, 520 Market St., Johnsonburg, PA 15845 or to the Lutheran Home at Kane, Activities Dep't., 100 High Point Dr., Kane, PA 16735.
The Grumley family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated caregivers and staff at the Lutheran Home at Kane for their tremendous love, care and compassion. We will be eternally grateful.
