Steven Austin Obituary
Born on May 2, 1951 in LaPlata, MD, he was the son of the late Gilbert E. Austin and Frances Coombs Austin and is preceded in death by his sister Sandy Ward.
Steve is survived by his wife of 46 years, Constance Willett Austin; daughters Mari Austin and Jennifer DePhillip (Charlie); son Steven "Timmy" Austin Jr. (Katie); bonus children Chris Swann and Missi Erslev; sister Brenda Johnson (Joe); brother Tommy Austin (Karen); treasured grandchildren Ayden Austin, Landen Austin, Heidi DePhillip, Haleigh DePhillip, Jaxden Austin, Jordan Gilyeat, and Josh Brown; bonus grandchildren Kolby Myers, Skylar Veirs, and Tommie Potts.
Steve served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam until he was honorably discharged in 1974. He then worked for SMECO for 36 years as a serviceman/lineman. He enjoyed gardening, "tinkering" in his garage, and spending time with family and friends.
A visitation and service will be held at New Life Church 9690 Shepherds Creek Place La Plata, Maryland 20646 on Wednesday, December 10th beginning at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in the church cemetery, Wesleyan Memorial Gardens. A repast will be held at the LaPlata Fire House.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Steve's name may be made to New Life Church.
