Stanford Speer Obituary

Stanford Speer
January 6, 1935 - September 6, 2021
Stanford Forest Speer passed away peacefully in Sonoma, CA, with his loving family at his side on September 6, 2021.
Stanford was born in Santa Rosa CA to Howard and Lillian (Walsh) Speer on January 6, 1935. He and his twin brother Stanley entered this world at the home of his grandparents, George and Lucy (Hufstetler) Walsh. Stanford enjoyed his childhood in Forestville near his grandparents, James, Sr. and Lucy Maude (Powell) Speer, and the Russian River where his parents owned and operated Speer's Corner. Shortly after graduating from Analy High School, Stanford joined the Air Force and was stationed in France maintaining radio relay stations during the Cold War.
While in France, Stanford married Françoise (Lévêque) Speer, his wife of 63 years. Stanford and Françoise returned to Forestville after the Air Force to raise a family and for twenty years helped his parents manage what became Speer's Market. Stanford and Françoise then moved to Sonoma, CA, and turned their attention to property development as well as operating several ladies' clothing stores. Stanford could be best characterized as having a love of family, quiet strength, strong work ethic, commitment to customer service, and passion for Texas hold'em.
In addition to his wife Françoise, Stanford is survived by: his daughter Nathalie Speer of Sonoma CA, his son Mark and daughter-in-law Sabrina (Mears) Speer of Glen Ellen, CA, and his son Daniel and daughter-in-law Dianna (Bartman) Speer of Wilton, CA, his grandson Erik and granddaughter-in-law Sadie Speer of Sacramento, CA, his granddaughter Bonnie Speer of Sacramento, CA, and his grandson Alexander Speer of Sacramento, CA.
He will be laid to rest in a private service at a later date.
