Thomas Leonard Obituary

Thomas Earl Leonard, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Glen Ellen, CA on October 29, 2025, with his wife (Cathy) by his side. Tom was born on April 22, 1949 in San Francisco, CA to Chester and Elizabeth (Betty) Leonard. He attended West Portal elementary and Riordan High School, where he starred on the swim team. He later spent two years as a Merchant Marine.
Growing up, Tom's summers were spent in Glen Ellen, where his family had a property on Carmel Avenue since he was born. Tom later met Cathy in 1970 in Glen Ellen where they eventually settled down and raised a family.
Following his interest and aptitude for cars, Tom attended Santa Rosa Junior College and pursued a successful career in the automotive business. He was passionate about family, cars, abalone and SCUBA diving, his beloved 49ers, and his many lifelong friends. Tom was beloved by all, enjoyed travel, good stories, and cigars with his buddies. As a young man, Tom was an active volunteer with the Glen Ellen Fire Department, and later in life as a volunteer with the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Tom enjoyed attending "cars and coffee," BCR rallies and runs with his fellow Pantera club owners.
Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cathy, two sons Dennis (Kristy) and Matthew (Katie), four grandchildren, Carus, Ian, Alex and Grace, three sisters Randee, Joy, Carrie, and brother Barry. Tom spent most of his life working selflessly to better the lives of those around him. Always humble and sincere, Tom's friendship, generosity, and humor will be greatly missed.

Dear Cathy and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was bigger than life to all. I think of you and the family often. I learned so much from you Cathy working out at SDC as your Aide. I looked up to you as a beautiful wife and mother to your boys. Space Balls the book. I probably still have it. God Bless
