Clayton Wilson Obituary

Clayton Austin Wilson, age 87, of Brimley, Michigan passed away Tuesday evening, May 7, 2019, at the Robert and Helen Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan surrounded by those that loved him. He was born on October 27, 1931, in Dafter, Michigan. Clayton was the fourth of eight children born to Austin and Martha (Gilroy) Wilson of Brimley, Michigan.
Clayton attended Brimley Area Schools up until 1952, when he left high school to join the United States Army during the Korean War for the POW peace talks. He was an active duty service member from 1952-1954. While in the Army he helped to build new roads in Korea. After coming home from war, he bought and ran a dairy farm in Brimley for many years. He also went back and finished school at Brimley, receiving his diploma in 1970.
Clayton married Dorothy (Curtis) Wilson on October 1, 1955. They were happily married for 46 years. Together they ran the dairy farm and raised three boys: Steve, Ken, and Tim.
Along with running a dairy farm, Clayton also was the rural mail carrier for the Brimley area. After retiring from the farm as well as the United States Postal Service, he enjoyed volunteering at various places. Such as: War Memorial Hospital, Road to Recovery, and Hospice of the EUP. Clayton also enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Dafter Township board for many years. He was also a member of the Dafter Presbyterian Church and later attended the Congregational Church of Brimley.
Clayton is survived by his siblings: Doris Larocque, Arlene Winters, Fay (Jeanette) Wilson, and Gordon (Erna) Wilson; brother-in-law: Ron Drow; sister-in-law: Coalie (Keith) Jacobson; children: Steve Wilson, Kenneth (Vicki) Wilson and Timothy (Tricia) Wilson; grandchildren: Ryan (Enjoli) Wilson, Kyle (Lindsay) Wilson, Sydney Wilson, Cortney Wilson, Dana Wilson, Tyffanie Wilson, and Taylor (Tommy) Aikens; and great-grandchildren: Royce Hudak, Madalynn Wilson, and Lorelei Wilson.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents: Austin and Martha Wilson; wife: Dorothy Wilson; siblings: Violet (Don) Edwards, Lila (John) Pesola, Patricia Drow; sister-in-law: Margie (Andy) Lampiris; brothers-in-law: Robert Larocque, Robert Winters, Lorne Curtis, and Harold Curtis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan with Pastor Rod Case officiating. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.
