Wallace DePlonty Obituary

Wallace was born on June 20, 1937 to Oscar and Lauretta (Grexton) DePlonty on the family farm in Bruce Township. He lived in the home until he married Ruby and constructed a home right next door. Wallace passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on January 9, 2016.
Wallace is survived by 3 sisters, Stella (Linda Miller) DePlonty, Wilma (Dwayne) Betram, and Annie (Wayne) Botrell all of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Wallace was married to Ruby (Reid) from 1958 until her death in 1990. Wallace and Ruby raised the following children: Carl (Sandy) DePlonty, Sault MI, Tom (Jolene) DePlonty, Sault MI, James (Cathy) DePlonty, Ludington MI, Patti (James) Perron, Sault MI and David (Connie) DePlonty, Sault MI
Wallace had many grandchildren: Brian (Yvette) DePlonty, Alexia (Justin) Jarvi, Dana (DJ Mansfield) DePlonty, Kaitlyn DePlonty, Jenna (Tim Petersen) DePlonty, Madison DePlonty, Christina Perron, Matthew (Tiffany) DePlonty, Nicholas (Rachel Russell) DePlonty.
Great Grandchildren include Desiree Castillo, Destiny DePlonty, Zoey DePlonty, and Sawyer DePlonty.
Wallace was also the beloved Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, brothers Milton (Caroline) DePlonty, John ( Terri ) DePlonty and his sisters Madiline ( Robert ) Chandler, Marion (Harold) Reid and Betty Lou DePlonty.
Wallace was then married to Barbara (Mitchell) from 1996 until her death in 2008.
Wallace was also a father, grandfather and great grandfather to many of Barb's children.
Wallace had a great companion in the last 6 years of his life. Pepper was a small Chihuahua that became his best friend. They shared bacon for breakfast, Clyde's burgers for lunch and many hours relaxing in the recliner watching TV. They also enjoyed car rides to the store and camping adventures. Pepper was always by his side. Pepper was also allowed one last visit to the hospital to share a loving goodbye.
Wallace lived his entire life in the Sault. He was a farmer that worked the family farm with his children until retirement. He was also employed by Cloverland Electric where he spent the majority of his years working at the Dafter Power Generation Plant. Wallace never wanted to move away from the Sault as that was where his family was. He had opportunities to move to warmer climates for the winter months, but could not bear to be away from his family contact.
Wallace was a woodworker who enjoyed making projects and toys that were then given away as gifts to his family members. A large portion of his time in the woodshop was spent teaching others what he knew so that his knowledge could live on. Wallace also ran the neighborhood repair shop. Repairing tractors and other farm equipment for the community was also a mainstay of his craft.
If you have any special memories or stories of Wallace, you may share them at the memorial or write them down and give them to the family. Visitation for Wallace will be Tuesday January 12, 2016 from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. with services starting at 4PM at the C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. C.S. Mulder Funeral Home is assisting the family.
