Barbara Johnson Obituary
SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Barbara Jean Johnson, 68, who resided on West Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011, at her residence following an illness. Barbara was born to the union of Lyle and Annie Ruth (Grady) Nichols on August 3, 1943, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Coming from Dowagiac, Michigan, in 1978, she moved to South Bend. She was united in holy matrimony to William Johnson on February 3, 1979, in South Bend. She worked 12 years for Regency Place in the housekeeping department. She loved shopping. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Annie Ruth Nichols, and a daughter, Brenda Nichols. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband, William Johnson; one daughter, Debra L. Nichols; sons, Brian Keith Nichols, William Darnell Nichols, Rodney Morris Nichols and Bernard Nichols, all of South Bend; stepdaughters, Francine (James) Wheeler and Dorine, both of South Bend; stepsons, Jeffrey (Kim) Nichols of Stockton, California, and William Johnson Jr. of South Bend; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Bonds of Los Angeles, California, and Irene Nichols of South Bend; three brothers, Michael Nichols of Atlanta, Georgia, Lyle (Beverly) Nichols Jr. of Dowagiac, Michigan, and Leon Kennedy of South Bend; along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Alford's Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected], c/o the Johnson family.
