Sept. 12, 1976 - July 21, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Benjamin Thomas Hubbard, 36, passed away on Sunday, July 21, doing what he loved to do, flying his plane. Benjamin was born on September 12, 1976 in Mishawaka to Thomas Hubbard, Sr. and Suzanne (Doll) Hubbard. Surviving are his mother, Suzanne (Terry) Harlin of Mishawaka; his father, Thomas (Brenda) Hubbard, Sr. of Carol Stream, IL; daughter, Carli Hubbard of South Bend; his brother, Thomas Lee (Stephanie) Hubbard Jr. of Carol Stream, IL; and his nephews, Thomas and Donald. Also surviving are his fiancée, Melissa Grover of South Bend and his best friends, Chris Loftus and Micah Rulli. Ben was a 1994 Mishawaka High School graduate. He was a general contractor and the owner of 3 Points LLC. He was known as a Master Craftsman because he could build or fix anything with his hands. He always lived life to the fullest each and every day. Ben loved flying; it was such a thrill and had a great sense of freedom. Ben was an avid rock climber, diver, motorcyclist and snowboarder. He loved all the beautiful places he visited in nature, whether diving in the Caribbean or hiking the Grand Canyon. He was a caring and strong individual who was hard working and not afraid of taking on new challenges or adventures, fulfilling all of his "Bucket List" items. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Vito Rulli officiating. To leave the family an online condolence or to share memories with the family, please visit our web-site at

I only knew Ben as the man who mowed my yard the past few years. But I appreciated his friendliness, caught hints at times of a man who had many other talents and skills. He always got right to work, was very efficient and focused on his work--whizzed through the yard and then on to his next job. He will be missed.

Ben and I were good friends for a few years in high school, and I will always remember him as a very driven, genuine, and caring person. We had a lot of good times together and I am glad I had a chance to know him. Rest in peace my friend.

Prayers and good thoughts go out to the Hubbard family and to Melissa at this time of sorrow. Remember the good times and keep them in your memories. Do not dwell on why, God chose him for one of his Angels, and we will know why at our time, carry on and let the family bond closer now then ever. Our loss is we did not know him, we are friends with Rose Grover. Let God guide you and Bless all of You.

My husband and I knew Ben from W.G. We never knew him and Missy personally, but they were very dedicated coming in every single morning. My husband enjoyed his "teasing" He was certainly an ICON and we all at W.G. will miss him. We are still in shock; because it was losing a member of our family. He indeed lived life to the fullest. May you rest in peace and God Bless your Family. Missy I hope in time you return to the gym soon so we can shower you with hugs. David and Bobbie Anderson/W.G.

Ed Anderson and I were just in the process of hiring Ben to repair a roof. He had already removed a large tree limb and put a tarp over the hole. We were very impressed with his work and were so sad to hear of his tragic accident. Our condolenses to the family and friends. We were just getting to know him..........
